Graduates of the Faculty of Arts are encouraged to further their studies by undertaking an Honours year.
Students with at least a credit standard in a specified major of Bachelor degree program may be eligible to undertake an Honours year. The year normally involves advanced coursework, and a research component in the form of a thesis on a chosen topic in consultation with an academic supervisor.
CASM offers specialised research training and supervision in the field of Australian Indigenous music.

Honours is the normal prerequisite for entry to a Higher Degree by Research at the Masters and Doctor of Philosophy level, and is also preferred by many employers.
