Elder Conservatorium Chorale - Conductor, Carl Crossin

The Elder Conservatorium Chorale draws its membership from the Elder Conservatorium of Music, the University of Adelaide at large, other universities, and from the wider community.  The Chorale performed at Australia’s national Choralfest 2004 and, in recent years, has performed a wide variety of major choral works, both unaccompanied and with orchestra.  These include Barber’s Agnus Dei, Bernstein’s Chichester Psalms, Nigel Butterley’s The True Samaritan, Mozart’s Requiem, Verdi’s Requiem, Vaughan Williams’ A Sea Symphony, Michael Tippet’s A Child of Our Time, Handel’s Israel in Egypt and J. S. Bach’s Johannes Passion.  The Chorale is also the core of the Adelaide Symphony Chorus and has given major performances of Beethoven’s Symphony No 9, Brahms’ German Requiem, Carl Orff’s Carmina Burana and Mahler’s 2nd and 3rd symphonies with the Adelaide Symphony Orchestra conducted by Arvo Volmer.  Chorale (as the core of the Adelaide Symphony Chorus) also joined forces with choirs from around Australia and the Tasmanian and Adelaide Symphony Orchestras for a performance of Mahler’s ‘Symphony of a Thousand as part of the 2010 Adelaide Festival.
