The Access Programs at the Elder Conservatorium of Music offers members of the wider community the opportunity to discover or re-discover the joy of music through a number of programs.
Music Theory Bridging Course
For people wishing to revise their musical theory or fast-track their understanding prior to commencing tertiary music studies, the Music Theory Bridging Course offers the perfect solution. Run in February each year, the course offers 12 hours of tuition across four days, covering concepts including major and minor keys and scales, clefs, intervals, chords, harmonic progression including cadences, voice-leading principles, and 7th chords.
Tailored towards advanced instrumentalists and vocalists, the Single Studies program offers the opportunity to study at the Conservatorium on a one-to-one basis, outside the framework of tertiary degree study. Upon recommendation of the teacher, students have the opportunity to participate in ensembles run by the Conservatorium including the Elder Conservatorium Symphony Orchestra, Elder Conservatorium Big Band (Jazz), Elder Conservatorium Wind Ensemble, or any of the three choirs.
