Industry Links and Partners

The Elder Conservatorium of Music is proud to have a number of industry partnerships nationally and internationally.

Australian String Quartet

With a rich history beginning at its foundation in 1985, the Australian String Quartet (ASQ) has a strong national profile as an Australian chamber music group of excellence, performing at the highest international levels. Dedicated to musical excellence with a distinctly Australian flavour, they aim to create chemistry and amplify intimacy through experiences that connect people with music.

Since 1991 the University of Adelaide has been the ASQ’s Major Partner, a long-standing relationship that also marked the beginning of the ASQ as the University’s Quartet-in-Residence. Ffrom their headquarters right here on campus they reach out across the world to engage people with an outstanding program of performances, workshops, commissions, digital content, and education projects.

South Australian Music Camp Association

Formed in 1962 to provide young instrumentalists with an opportunity to play in orchestras, and operated every year since, the Music Camp has long been an integral part of the lives of young South Australian musicians.

The South Australian Music Camp Association Inc. is a not-for-profit organisation which offers students the opportunity to strive for excellence in music by participation in one of the five ensembles during camp week. The organisational team volunteer many hours of their time and are truly dedicated to the youth music movement in South Australia. It is interesting to note that campers from an earlier generation often keep in touch with the movement, either as proud parents of keen young campers, or sometimes as tutors and conductors.
