The EMR Scholarship
In 2004, the Elder Conservatorium of Music received a significant charitable donation to support a scholarship for an outstanding graduate wishing to undertake further advanced study overseas (privately, or under the auspices of an institution). It is open to Australian citizens in the field of classical musical performance: instrumental, vocal or conducting.
It is anticipated that one or two scholarships up to the value of $12,000 will be awarded in 2012.
Applications are currently closed.
The Khurana Frost Scholarship for Musical Performance
This Scholarship has been established by Mrs and Mr Michael Frost and Mrs and Professor Ashok Khurana in the memory of their mothers to promote excellence in Classical Music Performance. This Scholarship will support one third year student who is undertaking the Bachelor of Music (Performance) program of study in the Classical Music area at the University of Adelaide. The scholarship provides $5,000 for one year.
The Khurana Frost Scholarship for Musical Performance is offered through the University Scholarships Office.
The George Boland Scholarship
The George Boland Scholarship was established by his widow, Josephine Patricia Boland, to commemorate the name of her husband George. George and Patricia Boland were lovers of opera and in particular the Swedish tenor, Jussi Bjorling. The George Boland Scholarship is intended to foster the development of classically trained singers graduating from the Elder Conservatorium of Music for up to two years of postgraduate study. It is intended that there will be at least one male and one female recipient awarded the scholarship each year.
The Marnie Cowan Elder Conservatorium of Music Scholarship
The Cowan Grant was established in 1994 as a charitable trust providing financial help to tertiary students in accordance with the wishes of the late Mrs A.M. (Marnie) Cowan and her husband W.A. (Bill) Cowan of Adelaide. Each year, the Trustees will generously provide one or more scholarships to support needy students at the Elder Conservatorium of Music. Students may be enrolled in Conservatorium programs at any level - Undergraduate, VET Music or Postgraduate.
Applicants will be assessed according to academic merit and will be in receipt of a government benefit based on financial need or a demonstrated alternative. Preference may be given to regional or rural students who must leave home to study in Adelaide. The scholarship is intended to defray study costs (such as the purchase of music scores, instrument or computer), or to assist with accommodation expenses.
Applications are currently open (closing Friday 1 March 2013).
