Teaching Staff - Voice
Soprano Bethany Hill has performed with State Opera of South Australia, Co-Opera, Gertrude Opera (VIC), and the award-winning Adelaide Chamber Singers. She is a regular artist for the Adelaide Festival and Fringe, including performing in Barrie Kosky's Helpmann Award-winning production of Handel's Saul. For the 2018 Festival Bethany made her principal debut in Patch Theatre's Can You Hear Colour?
Her roles include Pamina (The Magic Flute), Susanna (The Marriage of Figaro), Dido (Dido & Aeneas), Sesto (La Clemeza di Tito), Dorabella (Cosi Fan Tutte, National Tour), Ines (Il Trovatore), Pitti-Sing (The Mikado, National Tour) and Red (Cloudstreet, Workshop Season).
Bethany has studied intensively with Early Music Vancouver, at the University of British Columbia. In 2017 she performed in Handel’s Acis & Galatea, directed by Sophie Daneman of Les Arts Florissant, for the Peninsula Summer Music Festival, and returned in 2018 as a featured artist. One of her performance highlights to date was recently performing Bach cantatas under the baton of Masaaki Suzuki in Nelson, NZ.
Bethany is currently an Emerging Artist for the State Opera of South Australia. In August Bethany will make her Melbourne Recital Centre debut as Belinda in Purcell’s Dido & Aeneas with Ludovico’s Band.
